Abstract:
The effects of drought stress on the content of mineral nutrient and the relationship between mineral nutrient content and the yield and quality of flue-cured tobacco were studied with pot experiment. The results showed that the concentration of N in tobacco plant increased and the contents of P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe and Mn decreased under drought stress, which resulted in the decline of yield and quality of flue-cured tobacco. It was also found that the content of mineral nutrient in tobacco plant correlated closely with the yield and quality of tobacco leaves. The concentration of N in tobacco plant was positively related to yield, but contents of total nitrogen and nicotine negatively correlated with the content of reducing sugar in cured leaves when drought occurred in growing stages.Under drought stress, the effect of N content on yield and quality of tobacco was most significant, followed by P and K contents, and the effects of other mineral nutrient contents were on the small side.
