Abstract: In order to improve the blending uniformity of cut tobacco and cut stem in cigarette manufacture, stem recutting process was developed.Namely, stored stem was cut to desired thickness by a stem cutter first and then recut to desired width by a tobacco cutter.The new process was compared with direct stem cutting process and rolled-stem cutting process.The experimental results showed that the distribution uniformity of cut tobacco and cut stem in cigarette was significantly improved, the manufacturing quality of cigarette was stabilized, and the draw resistance and tar delivery of cigarette were reduced by stem recutting process.
