Abstract: In order to improve the usability of polypropylene (PP) filter rod, PP filter added with an aqueous emulsion adhesive was made by a YL-33 filter rod making machine which was modified according to the characteristics of PP tow and the adhesive.The results showed that the appearance of PP filter was close to that of acetate filter.By sensory evaluating and smoke analyzing of the cigarettes tipped with PP filters, it was concluded that the PP filter applied with aqueous emulsion adhesive was a good substitute for acetate filter.
