Abstract:
In order to meet the needs of fast analysis of sulfur in tobacco, a method for predicting sulfur content in tobacco with near infrared spectrum (NIR) was developed by using the values determined by BaSO
4 turbidimetry as references. The effects of the spectrum pre-treating method and the spectrum range on predictive values were investigated. This method had many advantages, such as simple, rapid, low consumption, low cost, undestructive to sample and good repetition. The predictive values of sulfur in tobacco by this method were comparable with those by BaSO
4 turbidimetry.
