Abstract: In order to solve the problem that the actual expansion effect of expanded cut stem could not be reflected by its filling power measured with the determination method of cut tobacco, the number of cigarette made from a given amount of expanded cut stem was taken as a check standard, the weight of one hundred cigarettes with the same cigarette hardness, the natural bulk volume, and the filling power tested under different pressure and retaining time of four kinds of expanded cut stem were determined.A novel method for determining the filling power which actually reflected expansion effect of expanded cut stem was developed, it features good operational ability and practicability.Its operational condition was 9.8N of pressure and 30 seconds of retaining time.
