Abstract: For finding out fertilizers which could adjust water supplying in rainwater irrigating tobacco fields, the effects of different kinds of fertilizers, such as chemical, humic acid + chemical, water holding, organic and inorganic compound fertilizers, on soil moisture status, growth, development, yield and quality of flue cured tobacco were experimented in the dry west areas of Henan Province. The results showed that soil moisture increased by applying these fertilizers in tobacco fields, the growth and development of tobacco plant were promoted, the yield and quality of tobacco leaves were improved, and the water utilizing efficiency was heightened. Among them, the effects of water holding fertilizer were the best.
