Abstract: In order to exploit new resource of natural tobacco flavor, the dry powder of Rhizoma alpiniae officinarum was extracted with supercritical CO₂ fluid. The average yield of the volatile oil was about 1.2%. The oil was applied in cigarettes and panel tested. The results showed that the oil could significantly reduce the harshness, eliminate the offensive odor, and improve the taste of cigarette smoke.
