Abstract:
The new technologies of supercritical fluid extraction (SCFE), such as complex extraction,micro-emulsion extraction,fractional distillation extraction,subcritical extraction, and superpressure extraction were reviewed. The present situation of SCFE's application in tobacco flavor industry was introduced simply.The major factors,which limited the adoption of SCFE in tobacco and tobacco flavor industry,included high equipment investment,poor solubility of extracts,high production cost and low market demand.Following points were considered worthy to be outlined:1) not all raw materials suited to SCFE;2) the right SCFE equipment was the one selected according to needs;3) entraining agents were more suitable to SCFE of flavor substances;4) development of SCFE process should be combined with tobacco flavoring experiments;and 5) pre-study was necessary before developing SCFE products.
