Abstract:
A method for determining the content of water, ethanol and propylene glycol in tobacco flavor by gas chromatography with a packed column was established. Tobacco flavor was extracted with butanone containing a little amount of iso-propanol (internal standard)and then analyzed by GC. The column used was a 2m×3mm i. d. stainless steel tube packed with GDX -102 stationary phase and the detector was TCD. The content of water, ethanol and propylene glycol in tobacco flavor could be determined respectively by one injection. The method is simple, rapid and accurate.
