Abstract:
The field experiments on inhibiting the growth of axillary buds with different applying methods of the two chemicals, Yadi and Yake(a. i., potassium maleic hydrazidate), were conducted. The results showed that effects of sucker control with Yadi and Yake in one 50th dilution were 90.54% and 76.15%, respectively. Comparing with hand-suckering, area of the upper leaf, weight per leaf, total sugar, and nicotine of tobacco treated with Yadi in one 50th dilution was decreased by 138.94cm
2, 0.4g per leaf, 2.3 percentage points, and 0.21 percentage points, respectively. However, when Yadi in one 100th dilution was applied for 2 times, the area of leaf and weight per leaf of flue-cured tobacco were obviously increased.
