Abstract:
The effect of cutting 1/4 or 1/8 of root system at first 5 days after topping on nicotine accumulation, yield and output value of burley tobacco was studied.The results showed that nicotine content of burley tobacco was greatly decreased by root cutting, the reduction of nicotine content in upper and cutter leaves treated with cutting 1/8 of root system was reduced by 1.9 and 2.13 percentage points, respectively, in comparison with the control.No obvious negative effect of root-cutting on yield and output value of tobacco leaves was observed.
