Abstract:
Effects of various varieties and balanced fertilization rates on chemical components of cured tobacco leaves were studied. The results showed that total nitrogen, total sugar, reducing sugar, sugar/alkaloid ratio, and Schmuck's value of tobacco leaves were significantly affected by fertilization rates. With increase of fertilization rates, total nitrogen was increased while total sugar, reducing sugar, sugar/alkaloid ratio, and Schmuck's value were decreased; The chemical components and ratios differed significantly among varieties, except for nicotine. No significant interaction was found between these two factors on chemical components.
