Abstract: Development of near infrared (NIR)spectroscopy technology, chemometrics matched, and their characteristics and recent application in tobacco industry are reviewed comprehensively. It is suggested that NIR spectroscopy technology be worth putting into operation in tobacco industry, because this kind of analysis technology has advantages of convenience, fast speed, no pollution, and no sample preparation, and is suitable for on-line analysis.
