Abstract: Reliability of the electronic circuit for rejecting cigarettes wrapped by paper joint come out of the bobbin splicing unit in PASSIM cigarette making machines was poor, and the circuit was difficult to repair when failure came. The circuit was improved by adding a direct-current solid-state relay, while computer program and circuit board were not modified, the cigarettes with paper joint were almost completely rejected. The new circuit was more reliable, and needed little maintenance.
