Abstract: Physical parameters of cigarettes produced by 36 major and 10 middle scale cigarette factories, such as end loss ratio, length, weight, circumference, draw resistance, hardness, moisture content, dust content, and breakage ratio were determined, and data obtained were statistically analysed. The results showed that 1)acceptability of cigarettes produced by these factories was increased from 1997 to 1999, and was over 90% except dust content, and 2)the cigarette manufacturing quality of the major factories were scarcely different from that of the middle manufactures, but the cigarette packing quality of the major factories was better than that of the middle ones.
