Abstract: The relaionship between main appearance characteristics of leaf such as curing color, brilliance,leaf area, weigt per unit leaf area etc. and chemical constituents in oriental tobacco cultivar Samsun were studied.The results shawed tha the curing color and leaf bo had a closer relationship with chedcal conshtuents. Withcontrolling the curing color and decrnaing the leaf area, the content of sugar obviously inceased together with decreased the content of total nitrogen and protein. But the content of nicotine also decreased by decreasing the leaf area.
