Abstract: The occurrence of tobacco virus diseases in China in recent years was described. Altogether 16 species of tobacco viruses were found in China. The statistics in 2001 showed that these diseases were serious in the Yellow River and the Huaihe River valleise and slight in the southern and northeastern areas. The causes of prevalence of these tobacco virus diseases were discussed and the integrated control measures were presented. Preventive methods were as follows:1)choosing resistant cultivars; 2)adopting right culture practices; 3)disinfecting soil, fertilizers and instruments, and enhancing management of seedbed and field;4)controlling aphid vector; and 5)applying anti-virus agents.
