Abstract:
In order to investigate the effects of steam inlet position in superheated steam drier HDT-FX on the quality of dried cut tobacco, two positions (expansion unit Winnover and the recirculated air duct to the combustion chamber)were tested and the physical indexes, routine chemical components, aroma components and sensory quality of dried cut tobacco were compared. The results showed that:1)the filling value of and the proportions of middle and short strands in dried cut tobacco were higher when steam was introduced into the expansion unit;2) the total volatile bases' increment increased, while more neutral aroma components decreased in dried cut tobacco when steam was introduced into the recirculated air duct;3)the cigarette made of cut tobacco dried by steam introduced into the expansion unit featured better aroma abundance, enhanced fresh aroma and sweet aroma, and improved comfortableness.
