Abstract:
In order to develop a new natural cigarette flavor, the fruits of
Hippophae rhamnoides L. (Seabuckthorn) were extracted with Soxhlet extraction, heating reflux extraction and water extraction-alcohol precipitation in turn. Petroleum ether extract, crude flavone and crude polysaccharide were obtained respectively. The petroleum ether extract was analyzed with GC/MS and applied in cigarette as a flavor. The results showed that: 1) 49 components in petroleum ether extract were identified, main compounds included esters, carboxylic acids, ketones, alkanes, alcohols and aldehydes. 2) The extracts reduced the dryness and irritation, while improved sensory pleasurableness of cigarette smoke. 3) Compared with the control, the tobacco specific
N-nitrosamines (TSNAs) in mainstream cigarette smoke reduced by about 20%, the free radicals in gas phase and solid phase decreased by about 31% and 26%, respectively.
