Puff-by-puff release characteristics of benzoapyrene in mainstream cigarette smoke under various smoking regimes

摘要: In order to study the puff-by-puff release characteristics of benzoapyrene (BаP) in mainstream cigarette smoke under a diverse intensive smoking regime, an RM20H smoking machine connected with a puff-by-puff smoke collection unit was designed to trap BаP in mainstream cigarette smoke automatically. Using this approach, BаP in mainstream cigarette smoke generated under different intensive smoking regimes are puff-by-puff trapped and quantitatively analyzed by GC-MS. Based on the measurement of BаP in each puff, BаP's puff-by-puff delivery characteristics were studied by mathematical statistics. The results showed that BаP's puff-by-puff release significantly increased in a logarithmic or exponential mode under ISO mode. Under Massachusetts (MAS) regime, BаP's emission followed a polynomial mode, and the release was gradually decreased after the 8th puff. Under Health Canada intense (HCI) regime, BаP's release were in polynomial mode, and gradually decreased after the 10th puff.
