Application of Electric Heating Discharging Hood to CTD Dryer

  • During tobacco drying,cut tobacco tends to buildup on the sidewall of the discharging hood in Comas Tower Dryer(CTD) and steam tend to condense on the sidewall and fall into tobacco,wet tobacco and wet tobacco balls may occur,therefore the sidewall was modified with electric heating after analyzing the temperature difference between the sidewall and the humid air.The sidewall was heated by electric heating elements.The relationship between the temperature of sidewall and the amount of tobacco buildup was determined via experiments,the heating temperature of sidewall was set at 80℃,and the power of heating elements was calculated according to thermodynamic formula.The results showed that the tobacco buildup reduced from 5.6 kg per batch to zero,and wet tobacco was avoided.The temperature and moisture content of cut tobacco were stable,the sensory quality of cut tobacco did not change obviously.With timely and sensitive temperature feedback,the temperature of the sidewall was controlled accurately,and the processing quality of cut tobacco was promoted effectively.
