Method for Evaluating Casing Uniformity of Tobacco Strips Based on Image Processing

  • In order to quantitatively evaluate the distribution uniformity of casing on a single tobacco strip and the uniformity of casing process, the image of casing attached points on tobacco strip was processed by digital image processing technique, and a method for evaluating casing uniformity on tobacco strip based on image processing was established, wherein the variation coefficient of casing distribution was used to characterize the distribution uniformity of casing on a single strip and the variation coefficient of attached casing amount between strips was used to characterize the uniformity of casing process. The results of verification showed that the results evaluated by the developed method presented the same trend as did the results tested by industrial standard YC/T 353—2010, Casing Uniformity Measurement, and effectively characterized the variation of the casing process.
