Properties of modified montmorillonite and its effects on filter flavoring methods for menthol
-
Abstract
In order to investigate the effect of modified montmorillonite as an adsorbent for filter flavoring, the properties of modified montmorillonite were analyzed, and the effects of menthol releasing from cigarette A flavored with modified montmorillonite adsorbent were compared with those of several cigarettes flavored by the other filter flavoring methods. The results showed that:1) The ammonia migration from modified montmorillonite was zero, and no harmful component was detected from the pyrolysate of modified montmorillonite by gas chromatography. 2) The aroma holding capacity of cigarette A was better than those of mint cigarettes prepared by solvent spraying method and fragrant cotton thread method. 3) The effect of menthol releasing from cigarette A was better than those from mint cigarettes prepared by solvent spraying method and fragrant cotton thread method, and slightly better than that by capsule method.
