Effects of cigarette paper permeability on burning status of slim cigarettes

  • In order to study the effects of cigarette paper permeability on the burning status of slim cigarettes, the burning temperature of slim cigarette samples with different cigarette paper permeability (30-80 CU) was experimentally analyzed via an in-house cigarette burning temperature tester. The results showed that:with the increase of cigarette paper permeability from 30 to 80 CU, 1) the draw resistance of unlit slim cigarette (Runlit) decreased gradually and that of lit slim cigarette (Rlit) decreased first and then increased, the transition happened at the permeability of 60 CU; 2) the average characteristic temperature (T0.5) and volume (V) of burning cone decreased first and then increased during puffing, the minimum emerged at 60 CU; 3) the average burning rate decreased first and then increased during puffing, the minimum appeared at 60 CU; 4) the maximum of highest temperature in burning cone (Tmax) raised first and then lowered during puffing, the peak appeared at 70 CU.
