Research progress on green pest control technologies for the cigarette beetle (Lasioderma serricorne)

  • With the increasing restrictions on the application of aluminum phosphide in the control of tobacco storage pests, developing green and efficient alternative technologies has become an urgent need for the industry. Accurate pest monitoring is a prerequisite for implementing scientific control, while the synergistic application of green control technologies such as physical control and biological control represents a key pathway to achieving long-term and stable pest management. This paper reviews the research progress of green control technologies for Lasioderma serricorne, including temperature control, controlled atmosphere control, and biochemical control, and provides an in-depth analysis of the advantages and limitations of existing technologies. On this basis, the paper proposes promoting the digital and intelligent transformation of the tobacco beetle monitoring system and fostering innovation in the “controlled atmosphere plus” multi-synergistic model, thereby transitioning pest control from reliance on a single technology to an integrated system of multi-technology collaboration. This paper aims to provide theoretical support for constructing a green integrated control system covering the entire storage chain with multi-technology integration, contributing to the green and sustainable development of tobacco storage.
