Application of FT-NIR in Primary Processing Line

Abstract
The mathematic models for predicting the moisture content, total alkaloid, total sugar and total nitrogen in cut tobacco were developed with the NIR spectra of cut tobacco from an on-line FT-NIR spectrometer.The mean relative errors between the predicted values and values measured with conventional chemical methods were 1.1%, 1.9%, 2.1% and 1.7%, respectively, which indicated that the chemical components in cut tobacco in primary processing line could be fast measured and monitored by on-line FT-NIR spectrometer.
