Discussion on Stem Dipping
-
Abstract
In order to simplify stem pretreatment and improve processing quality, the experiments on stem dipping in water were conducted. The results showed that the time needed for treating green stem was the shortest, dipped in 60℃ water for 5 seconds, filtrated, then stored for 4 hours (air temperature 25±2℃, relative humidity 60±5%), the degree of water permeation and moisture content of stem could reach > 99% and 36.27%, respectively. The time needed for treating redried stem with the same storage time varied slightly depended on where the tobacco was grown, while the time needed for redried stem from the same area prolonged with the length of storage time. Any stem dipped in water at proper temperature for one minute would reach the same degree of water permeation.
