Analysis of Volatile, Semi-volatile Acidic Components in Tobacco with Comprehensive Two-dimensional Gas Chromatograpy/Time-of-flight Mass Spectrometry

  • The volatile and semi-volatile acidic components in tobacco were analyzed qualitatively by comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography/time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC×GC/TOFMS) and GC/TOFMS.The results showed that only 24 organic acids and 4 phenols were identified by GC/TOFMS;however, a total of 107 acidic components, including 82 organic acids and 25 phenols, were characterized by GC×GC/TOFMS via automated data processing combined with chromatogram aided qualitative analysis and manual rectification.
