Effect of Strip Bulking Time on Chemical Components and Smoking Quality of Cigarette

  • In order to optimize the bulking time of different tobacco blends, the effects of strip bulking time on tobacco color and chemical components and cigarette smoking quality of various price categories were tested.The results showed that keeping strips under the conditions of temperature of 28-30℃ and relative humidity of 60%-65% for less than 10hrs, the color and routine chemical compositions were rarely affected.In terms of major aroma constituents, the bulking time for brand A in second category and brand B in third category was preferably less than 10hrs and 12hrs, respectively.However, brand A and B offered better smoking quality when they were bulked for 6hrs and 10hrs, respectively.
