Effects of Cellulose Acetate and Modified Polypropylene Filters on Chemical Components in Cigarette Smoke

  • The chemical components in mainstream smoke of cigarettes with modified polypropylene (PP) filter or cellulose acetate (CA) filter were analyzed with GC/MS and compared. The results indicated that the contents of hazardous substances in PP filter cigarette smoke were obviously higher than those in CA filter cigarette smoke, although the tar reducing efficiencies of some PP filters were close to those of CA filters.
