Application of Regression Analysis in Cigarette Quality Prediction and Control

  • For improving the process control precision of cigarette quality, the correlations between draw resistance (pressure drop) and hardness of cigarette or filter rod and its individual weight were regressively analyzed.The results indicated that there was a highly significant, positive linear relationship between the draw resistance (pressure drop) and individual weight, while there was no significant relationship between hardness and individual weight.In the quality process control of cigarette or filter rod manufacturing, the draw resistance (pressure drop) of cigarette or filter rod could be predicted and controlled by its weight via the obtained regression equation, when the weight of cigarette or filter rod is controlled within an approximate predictive intervals corresponding to the given range of draw resistance (pressure drop).
