Effects of Cigarette Paper Permeability on Temperature Distribution in Cigarette Combustion Cone
-
Abstract
The effects of cigarette paper permeability on some smoke components and the cigarette burning temperature during smoking were studied. The cigarette burning temperature was investigated with a thermocouple-based device specially designed for this purpose. The effects of cigarette paper permeability on cigarette burning temperature and smoke yields(tar, nicotine and CO deliveries) were analyzed. The results showed that:1) during smouldering, with the increase of paper permeability, the high temperature zone(HTZ) expanded, while the 200-260℃ zone shrank;2) during puffing,HTZ expanded first and then shrank when paper permeability increased from 30 CU to 137 CU;200-260℃ zone shrank when paper permeability increased from 30 CU to 55 CU,however,it maintained generally unchanged when the permeability increased from 55 CU to 137 CU.
