Analysis of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Mainstream Cigarette Smoke with Comprehensive Two-dimensional Gas Chromatography/Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry

Abstract
In order to understand polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in particulate phase of mainstream cigarette smoke, the PAHs in the sample of a retailed cigarette brand was analyzed with comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography/time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC×GC-TOFMS).The results showed that 616 PAHs components, including 448 PAHs and 168 PAH deri-vatives,were preliminarily identified by GC×GC-TOFMS by means of automatic data processing combined with two-dimensional "structure chromatogram" and manual rectification.By selecting their corresponding masses, the distribution patterns of PAH compounds of different types in two-dimensional chromatogram were also discussed.
