An Effective Method for Reducing Tobacco Breakage During Loosening and Conditioning

Abstract
In order to improve the effectiveness of tobacco loosening and conditioning,increase the percentage of large and middle size strips and reduce tobacco breakage,the proper range of rotation speed of cylinder was determined by optimization design and equipment improvement.The optimal parameters obtained through orthogonal experiments were:rotation speed 9r/min,tobacco moisture content 14%,and tobacco temperature 55℃.Technological validation conducted before and after THT improvement showed that the average breakage rate decreased by 4.04 percentage point.
