Effect of Available Iron Content in Matrix of Flue-cured Tobacco Floating System on Germination Rate and Seedling Growth

  • The matrix samples selected from 28 manufacturers in 10 tobacco producing provinces were inspected and tested with seedling culture,and the effect of available iron content in representative matrix on seedling growing was studied.The results showed that there was a certain positive correlation between available iron content and seedling vigor;higher available iron content affected more highly on seedling growth;however,the germination rate,seedling stand percent and seedling performance lowered when available iron content was higher than 1000 mg/kg.Therefore,it is important to control available iron content in matrix for tobacco seedling growth.
