Effect of Smoking Regime on Tobacco Specific N-Nitrosamines Yields in Mainstream Cigarette Smoke

  • In order to investigate the influence of smoking regime on the yields of tobacco specific N-nitrosamines(TSNAs),15 cigarette samples were smoked under three smoking regimes,ISO,Massachusetts and Health Canada methods,respectively.The NNN,NAT,NAB and NNK in particulate matter of mainstream cigarette smoke were determined by GC/TEA.The results showed that comparing with ISO standard method,the yields of TSNAs in mainstream smoke of perforated filter cigarettes,high ventilation filter cigarettes,and unperforated filter cigarettes increased by more than 100%,over 200%,and about 50%,respectively,with Massachusetts method(half of vent holes blocked) and Health Canada method(all of vent holes blocked).
