Inhibitory Effects of Garlic Extracts on Ralstonia solanacearum in Laboratory

  • The indoor experiment was conducted to study the control effects of ethanol and water extracts from garlic on Ralstonia solanacearum. The results showed that garlic extracts could effectively inhibit Ralstonia solanacearum, the inhibition effects improved with the extracts' concentration, particularly the ethanol extract. The inhibition rates of ethanol extracts at the concentrations of 0.2,0.3 and 0.4 g/mL were 65.56%,69.26% and 75.93%,respectively;while those of water extracts at the concentrations of 0.3 and 0.4 g/mL were 61.85% and 72.59%,respectively;and the EC50 of water and ethanol extracts were 0.14 g/mL and 0.08 g/mL,respectively.Therefore,garlic might be used as a source of plant protectant in Ralstonia solanacearum control.
