Forming Reconstituted Tobacco with Cast Coating Process
-
Abstract
A cast coating process similar to the process for producing glazed enamelled paper for producing reconstituted tobacco from tobacco midribs and fines was developed. The slurry was prepared by squeezing and defibrination. The results showed that:1) the quality of reconstituted tobacco produced with that process was similar to that produced with paper making process;2) the optimal technique conditions were:coating rate 80 g/m2,ratio of midrib to tobacco fine 6:4,adhesive rate 6% containing CMC and guar gum at a ratio of 1:2,and casting temperature 100℃;3) comparing with paper making process, the cast coating process saves 62 to 79 tons water per 1ton reconstituted tobacco, and saves energy consumption by about 15% for a 600 kg/h production line.
