Screening of Tobacco Mutant Plant SN01 Against PVY^N and Physiological and Biochemical Properties of the Same

In order to screen tobacco germplasm resource against PVY^N, a naturally mutant plant from tobacco variety NC89 has been screened with virus sap inoculation and referred to as SN01.The contents of total phenol, flavonoid, malondialdehyde(MDA) and polyphenol oxidase(PPO) activity in SN01 and normal NC89 inoculated with PVY^N were determined.The results showed that the contents of total phenol and flavonoid in SN01 peaked on the 12th day after inoculation, which were higher than those in normal NC89;the content of MDA changed little and PPO activity of SN01 raised slightly on the 15th day after inoculation, which was significantly lower than that of normal NC89.It indicated that the physiological and biochemical indexes of mutant plant and normal NC89 were quite different, and SN01 presented strong resistance and adaptation to the infection of PVY^N.
