Synthesis of 1,2-O-Propylidene-3,5-O-di(phenyletheNOXylcarbonyl succinyl)-D-xylofuranose and its Application in Cigarette

  • 1,2-O-Propylidene-3,5-O-di(phenylethenoxylcarbonyl succinyl)-D-xylofuranose was synthesized from 1,2-O-propylidene-α-D-xylofuranose and phenylethyl monosuccinate with 4-dimethylaminopyridine(4-DMAP) as a catalyst and N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide(DCC) as a dehydration reagent.The product was verified via IR,1H NMR,MS and elemental analysis,tested through pyrolysis,and applied into cigarettes as a flavor.The results showed that:1) The synthetic product was the target compound;2) The pyrolysates of the product,mainly phenylethanol and styrene among others,increased with the rise of pyrolytic temperature;3) The synthesized product had the functions of enhancing aroma quality and quantity of cigarette smoke,reducing irritancy and improving aftertaste.
