Relationship Between Cell Wall Matter Content in Sichuan Flue-cured Tobacco and its Appearance and Sensory Quality

  • In order to investigate the relationship between cell wall matter content in flue-cured tobacco and tobacco leaf quality, the cell wall matter content in Sichuan flue-cured tobacco was determined and its relationship with appearance and sensory quality was analyzed. The results showed that in Sichuan flue-cured tobacco, the contents of total cell wall matter, total cellulose, lignin, pectin, hemicellulose, and cellulose ranged from 24% to 35%,10% to 16%,0.5% to 4%,5% to 9%,2% to 5%,5% to 9%,respectively.The contents of total cell wall matter, total cellulose, hemicellulose and cellulose significantly correlated with leaf body, while their correlations with other appearance qualities were not significant. The content of total cell wall matter significantly correlated with aroma quality of leaf;while its correlations with other sensory qualities were not prominent.
