Effects of Irrigation Method and Watering Amount on Burley Growth and Water Utilization

  • To investigate the effects of irrigation method and watering amount on the growth,yield,and output value of burley tobacco and water utilization,three irrigation methods,furrow irrigation(conventional method),alternate irrigation of every other furrow,and micro-sprinkling were experimented.The results showed that micro-sprinkling with 36 mm of water gave the highest tobacco yield,output value,and water utilization.The furrow irrigating with 60 mm of water gave less yield and output value but consumed more water.Taking tobacco growth,economic traits and water utilization into account,micro-sprinkling with 36 mm of water has the advantages of better tobacco quality and economic benefit.
