Improvement of Cutting Mechanism in Final Cutting Drum in YJ212 Plug Assembler

  • The cutting mechanism in final cutting drum in YJ212 plug assembler was improved to solve the problems of frequent parts damage in cutting mechanism and filter cut end defects, including rough edge, distortion, and fiber protrusion. Carbide cutting disk was used in final cutting drum to improve its sharpness and endurance and dispense with the sharpener wheel. A cleaning device was designed to clean the glue build-up on the disk with a three-square scraper. The results of application showed that the life of the cutting disk increased from 8-10 to about 170 hours, and the percentage of cigarettes with defects caused by final cutting disk decreased from 5%-7% to under 1%. The improved final cutting drum is simple in structure, reliable in operation, and less in maintenance work.
