Determination of Tobacco Leaf Adhesion with Texture Analyzer

  • In order to study the relationship between the adhesion and quality of tobacco leaf, a method for determining the adhesion of tobacco leaf with texture analyzer was established by analyzing the effects of test parameters of texture analyzer on test results. The adhesion of 23 tobacco leaf samples of different grades from Sichuan in 2009 was tested with the method. The results showed that: 1) the optimal test parameters of texture analyzer were: precompression speed and compression speed of downstroke detector head 0.5 mm/s, induction force 4500 g, compression duration 240 s, lifting speed and height of downstroke detector head 0.5 mm/s and 10 mm, respectively; 2) the adhesion of the 23 samples differed obviously, the samples of higher quality grades possessed bigger adhesion, especially for upper and lower tobacco leaves; 3) higher grade samples possessed bigger adhesion but smaller variation coefficient comparing with lower grade samples.
