Design and Application of Flexible Helicoid Material Separation System

  • Aiming at the shortcomings of current equipment for reclaiming cut tobacco from defective cigarette, such as high tobacco degradation, high paper scrap content in tobacco and requiring manual sorting and tray arranging, a flexible helicoid material separation system was designed, in which material conveying and separating were carried out by means of the rotation of a flexible helical surface. When the defective cigarettes processed with saturated steam fell into the working chamber, tobacco and emptied paper spills were separated and conveyed under the action of a deflector fan and rubber-beaters. The system was applied to FY36 tobacco reclaimer, its advantages included that the tobacco breakage and paper scrap content in tobacco reduced from more than 15% to less than 8% and from 80 to(20±5) pieces/kg, respectively, the tobacco reclaiming rate increased by 30% while comparing with NTM S400 tobacco reclaimer. The reclaimed cut tobacco was basically intacted.
