Adaptability of Regional Flue-cured Tobacco Cultivars to UV-C Stress
-
Abstract
In order to find out the adaptability of different flue-cured tobacco cultivars to UV-C stress, six major flue-cured tobacco cultivars cultivated in agar medium were treated with different UV-C irradiation durations. The fresh weight per seedling, the content of photosynthetic pigment, activity of POD and changes of flavonoid and MDA contents in tobacco leaf were determined. The results showed that the fresh weight per seedling and the contents of photosynthetic pigment and flavonoid in tobacco leaf decreased, while POD activity and MDA content increased with UV-C stress. Due to their difference in genotypes, the 6 cultivars showed different adaptability to UV-C stress, the cultivars from the areas of low altitude and high latitudes presented lower adaptability to radiation than that of high altitude and low latitude. The cultivars in the order of their adaptability to UV-C stress were Yunyan 85> Hongda> Yunyan 87> Zunyan 1> Yanyan 97> Longjiang 911.
