Factors Affecting Ash Integration of Burning Cigarette

  • A method for accurately and quantitatively evaluating the ash integration of burning cigarette was established with digital camera and image analysis software Image.J. The effects of cigarette paper, cigarette blend and cut width of tobacco on the ash integration were investigated. The results showed that:1) The ash integration enhanced obviously when the content of combustion improver and the ratio of potassium to sodium in cigarette paper decreased, and the ash integration could be obviously improved by the addition of ash regulator in cigarette paper. 2) The relationship models of expanded cut tobacco, cut stem and cut reconstituted tobacco with the ash integration were established. The results of orthogonal experiment and variance analysis indicated that the order of influence degree on the ash integration were expanded cut tobacco< reconstituted cut tobacco< cut stem. 3) The ash integration of cigarette with the tobacco cut width of 0.8 mm was better than that of 0.9 mm.
