Design of Cigarette Hot Collapse Measuring Device for Linear Smoking Machine

Abstract
In order to improve the efficiency of cigarette hot collapse detection and extend the function of linear smoking machine, a cigarette hot collapse measuring device connected to linear smoking machine was designed. The device was mainly composed of a man-machine interface, an acquisition control unit and several measurement units. By cooperating with the mechanical structure and running process of linear smoking machine and using high precision displacement sensors and infrared temperature sensors, the device could real-timely measure the value of cigarette hot collapse during smoking. The multiple-cigarette measurement was realized via a multi-layer bus control system. The results showed that the P values of filter and tobacco rod of all cigarette samples were less than 0.05 and the combined standard deviations of each sample group less than 0.10, which met the testing requirements of industrial standard, YC/T 354-2010. The device featured good stability, consistency and accuracy, and could measure the hot collapse of several cigarettes simultaneously.
