Determination of α-Tocopherol in Tobacco with Capillary Gas Chromatography

  • A simple and rapid method was developed to determine α-tocopherol in tobacco with ultrasonic extraction and capillary gas chromatography.The optimal extracting condition was that the tobacco sample was ultrasonically extracted with petroleum ether at 40℃ for 60 minutes.The quantitative results were obtained with external standard calibration.The method had good linearity with correlative coefficient of 0.9993, the detection limit was 1.4μg/mL on the basis of signal-to-noise ratio of 3, the recovery of α-tocopherol was from 94% to 105%with RSD of 1.71%.
