Abstract
The challenges American tobacco industry encountered since scientific studies on smoking and health initiated in 1950s and the countermeasures taken by American tobacco industry were reviewed:the industry was more objective on the issue of health risks of smoking, keen to create a good and accountable public images, active in researches on smoking and health, the theory and technology associated with risk reducing, and in developing less harmful cigarettes.
